To The Stars V-1 (Future Chron Collection, #1) ...

A Future Chron Collection With the help of new technology humanity has attained the stars. And while that technology may be extending humanity's reach, it cannot change the human condition. That condition is always balanced perilously between progress and setback as these five stories show. The first novelette, "First One Hundred," is the story of the first mission to colonize a planet similar to Earth. But soon a crew member was dead, the Captain was missing, and a rampaging AI threatened destruction. The second story, "First Dark Ages," finds the Earth for the first time in over two-hundred years without the management of its overseers, the Aggies (Artificial General Intelligence). And the Earth's governments without that crutch are failing miserably. As the Earth recovers form the First Dark Ages the next novelette "Second One Hundred" finds a follow up mission to the First One Hundred mission launched. But this mission was in trouble almost from the start when one crew member wakes up to find she is the only conscious human on the ship. Or is she? The fourth story, "Second Dark Ages," is more about the dark ages of the soul rather than the physical. As Ray is on a trek of discovery around his space habitat he encounters the extreme of human thought and philosophy. The last novelette, "The Path Of The Long March," shows the Trilons to be a peaceful, respectful race. But something is killing them and the Rigan bureaucracy, who want to use the Trilons to help build their infrastructure, need an answer. The blossoming friendship between a Rigan and a Trilon may help find the answer, before a 500 year old secret is revealed. If you like a fast moving story, characters that never give up, and science with a sense of wonder, this is for you. Hard science fiction - old school. See the author's blog, futurechronology on blogger, for more about the Future Chron Universe.

A tough, topical financial thriller that exposes the dark underbelly of Wall Street. After a stint in the Middle East, black ops vet Silas Cade becomes an "accountant" - the go-to for financiers who need things done quickly, quietly, and by any means necessary. Silas is hired by a major player to pay a visit to a hedge-fund manager to demand clawback: the mandatory return of compensation paid on a deal that goes bad. But before Cade can tell his client that he got his $10 million back, the guy turns up dead. And he's not the first. Someone's killing investment bankers whose funds have gone south. Silas's scrubbed identity, and his insider's perspective, makes him the ideal shadow man to track down whoever's murdering some of the most hated managers on Wall Street. With the aid of a beautiful financial blogger looking to break her first big story, Silas tracks a violent security crew who may be the key to the executions. But as paranoia and panic spread, he begins to wonder: is the threat coming from inside the game-or out? With breakneck pacing, nonstop action, and the cutting-edge details of today's financial intelligence technology, Clawback hurtles to its final twist, a gripping contemporary tale of shady finance, venal corruption, and greed run rampant. 1.
